Two for Tuesday

I must say that the store is beginning to look just a little bit bare ~ well, to those who are here every day, at least.  Our customers still are finding plenty to browse and enjoy, though.  We’re loaded with ornaments, garlands, lights, ribbons, stems, and all the extras to make your holiday a sparkling affair.

We’ve had a great selection of snowmen ornaments this year, and I came across these whimsical, ice skating fellows today.  They look so happy!  I love happy snowmen, don’t you?

Now, for those of you who are truly obsessed completely committed to celebrating all things Christmas in every facet of life, have you yet selected your Christmas shower curtain and curtain rings?  We have some really cute ones!  Continuing in the happy snowman theme, how about a woodland-style presentation?

Choose from a variety of shower curtain hooks to enhance your look.

Finally, polish things off with a couple of pieces of Christmas tree soap and an embroidered hand towel.  Remember, if you don’t have time for a thorough cleaning, light a few candles and let your guests enjoy the ambience and hopefully overlook the grime.  (Oops, am I giving away a secret there??)

Santa, please bring me a maid BEFORE Christmas!

Two for Tuesday

It’s shiny-ornament Tuesday today.

I’ve been walking past these new glass ornaments in the store for the past month, planning to buy some for my sister (Lee Anne, look away from the screen now) for Christmas … but I may have waited to long ~ we just about sold out of the first batch this weekend!  Surely we’ll get more in before December.  The designs are painted on the back surface of these 1/4-inch thick glass ornaments, and the colors are almost glowing ~ gold, red, blue, teal, dark green, and more.

In somewhat similar fashion, the next ornaments I’ll show you have the texture of crackled glass over a metallic leaf finish.  A collection of these, strategically placed on the Christmas tree, will add a real pop to your theme ~ here in the store, they’re in use on a tree that’s filled with the colors of autumn.  We’ve grouped them in the copper collection.

Two for Tuesday

I tend to stay out of the Christopher Radko ornament room here at the store – I’m easily distracted by shiny things, and can get lost in there admiring the many styles of Christmas ornaments he has created!  Well, I managed to walk around the whole room today (Mark Roberts fairies are in there, too, along with some wonderful sequined velvet Christmas purses…). These two cute-cute-cute little ornaments were flashing at me under the spotlights – a very fanciful stocking filled with goodies, and a tiny little harlequin Santa wearing green sequined gloves ~ who could resist?

Have you thought about displaying a collection of unique ornaments in a glass jar like this?  I’ve done this with plain round balls in a tall candle holder, but didn’t think about showing off anything as spectacular as these Radko Christmas ornaments ~ don’t they look fantastic?

S’mores!  Do you love ‘em?  We have a great collection of S’mores ornaments ~ this little guy wears a cap that reads Y My RV, and you can see his RV there on the right.  What a cutie-pie!

The decorators have set up a beautiful new western pine tree to display our Egyptian Museum Glass ornaments, and they really shine among these branches.

Now, you might be thinking, “How bold, to juxtapose a whimsical S’mores ornament and an elegant cut glass ornament in the same post.”  That’s just the way we roll here at the store!  We are all about speaking to the variety of styles and tastes that make this world a beautiful, colorful place.  We offer an unique experience to every customer that comes in the door.

Who could fear this cute little fellow??  Surely he would not send you leaping for a table – he’s just hanging around to keep you company!  He’s about 4 inches tall.

Are you a fan of the ocean, the beach, or lighthouses on the shore?  You will enjoy this glass globe lamp from the Thomas Kinkade collection.   Titled “The Light of Peace,” a delicately-painted shoreline view circles the musical base, with a 3D representation of the same scene filling the glass globe above.  The globe is illuminated by a soft, glowing light.  Call and ask for item 537039.

We’ll be celebrating the new year in just a few short hours, so I had to go looking for sparkling things today, and I love these ultra-close images – hope you enjoy them, too!  First, a few silk and velvet flowers and Christmas ornaments for the tree, and then a charming Winter Fairy Christmas decoration.

A friend came to the store looking for LED lights and we noticed these carpenter/handyman Christmas novelty lights – what a hoot!  They will be a real hit on the tree in the garage or the man cave ~ or woman cave, I happen to own quite a few tools myself, including a mitre box and a set of torx wrenches, thank you very much.  (and I have used both.)

Last Saturday I spent time on the sales floor helping customers (yeah, like, the rest room is that way) and these new Christmas ornaments jumped out at me – decorated with dimensional paint, they have a real depth and  beautiful lustre – we’ll personalize these for you, too!

We’re closed on Thanksgiving Day, and opening at 8:00 am on Friday afterwards to give all you early birds a chance to start shopping our specials.  We’ve filled the store with special pricing on the cutest collection of snowmen, penguins, Santas, and other fun characters - yesterday I found a dancing penguin that sings “We wish you a Merry Christmas” as he waddles along.  I wonder if I could post a little video of him on this blog?  I’ll give it a try!

One great road trip!

Whew!  Just got back from a two-and-a-half day business trip with three colleagues, and boy, did we have a great time!  Not only was the conference tremendously informative, the food was even better.

This is the first conference I’ve attended that afforded us the opportunity to actually GAIN weight, the food was so good.  We may judge all future events by the gold standard set this week.  Hot breakfast every morning, with the most delicious bacon; hot lunch both days (a divine apple pie on day one);and a cocktail-and-hot-hors d’oeuvre reception (I just had to include that to prove I could spell it), with everything from jumbo shrimp to a freshly roasted turkey served with rolls and cranberry sauce (with crab cakes in between), thank you, Google.  They served us food about every hour-and-a-half, including an ice cream sundae bar, fruit smoothies, and popcorn and pretzels.

It almost made up for the trip down and the fact that we had to leave before they gave away the iPod Chromatic Nano and the Chumby.  There’s a bit of a story there ~ had I won the Chumby it would have been surrendered to our driver as his Christmas gift.  Does that sound fair?

Next week I can share more tales of the trip…how, on the way down, they were all “this better NOT show up on the blog, what happens on I-75 stays on I-75″, and how, on the way back, they were all “this BETTER be in the blog, because this is too good not to talk about.”  Hmmm.  I still need to do some “editing,” if you know what I mean!  Oh, and gas went down to $2.19 a gallon while we were in the parking lot of one station near Athens at 8:30 pm last night.  Since we didn’t need gas at that point, we felt that they did this to get even with us for being not quite bad enough to call out the local constabulary…

Anywho, we have the lovely Egyptian Glass artist signing at the store, 2 to 5 p.m. tomorrow, and it’s going to be around seventy degrees here in the foothills, a nearly prefect day to come out to the store and meet the artists behind the collection.  We carry several styles of their Christmas ornaments, in addition to all the novelty gifts in this decorative line.

See ya’ll tomorrow!

Breaking News – Egyptian Glass Signing this Saturday!

This Saturday, November 1st, the founders of the Egyptian Museum company, Linda Paul and Mohamed Abdelhameed, will be in the store from 2 to 5 pm, signing their exquisite cut-glass creations.

Here is a picture of one piece from their line, which is quite extensive – unfortunately, we only offer a handful of their collection in our on-line catalog.  In the store, we have dozens of styles of ornaments, urns, finials, perfume jars, eggs, and more.  Photos can hardly do justice to these delicate crystal pieces with their cut-glass designs, luminescent finishes, and golden highlights.  The glass comes in a wide variety of colors, from clear to pink, purple, golden, red, blue, smoke, and more.

The Egyptian Glass line is manufactured in Egypt from German glass and paints, highlighted with 24kt gold.  Certain styles are accented with Asfour Crystal, a 33% lead crystal manufactured in Egypt.  Moe and Linda design most of the items, and add new pieces each year.

These unique creations add grace and elegance to any setting.  Be sure to come by the store this weekend to meet Linda & Moe and purchase a hand-signed piece or two for yourself.
