Two for Tuesday

A friend came to the store looking for LED lights and we noticed these carpenter/handyman Christmas novelty lights – what a hoot!  They will be a real hit on the tree in the garage or the man cave ~ or woman cave, I happen to own quite a few tools myself, including a mitre box and a set of torx wrenches, thank you very much.  (and I have used both.)

Last Saturday I spent time on the sales floor helping customers (yeah, like, the rest room is that way) and these new Christmas ornaments jumped out at me – decorated with dimensional paint, they have a real depth and  beautiful lustre – we’ll personalize these for you, too!

We’re closed on Thanksgiving Day, and opening at 8:00 am on Friday afterwards to give all you early birds a chance to start shopping our specials.  We’ve filled the store with special pricing on the cutest collection of snowmen, penguins, Santas, and other fun characters - yesterday I found a dancing penguin that sings “We wish you a Merry Christmas” as he waddles along.  I wonder if I could post a little video of him on this blog?  I’ll give it a try!

Life is good!

We’ve just put on display a really elegant collection of stoneware mugs, trays, salt & pepper shakers, and such along these lines:

There is a “Be Merry” mug that I really need.  Really.

Here is another example of the Egyptian Glass that will be featured for our artist signing this weekend – I have sold quite a few of these cut-glass eggs in the last couple of weeks.  They are so unusual and quite lovely.  I would place a tea light behind it on a shelf to make it glow.

P.S. Someone sent me this link to a really cute site today – go carve yourself a pumpkin!

Okay, yes, I know it’s Thursday…but sometimes life happens, you know?  Thanks to a terrific storm in the area and the downing of neighborhood trees, I had no power on Tuesday (for about 23 hours) and when I made it to the store yesterday we had been struck by lightning and lost a few of those critical systems without which modern life and, you know, the taking in of other peoples’ money in exchange for the good stuff, simply cannot proceed.  People, keep a land line in your home, just one – you already know that my cell phone was begging for re-juicing right when the power went down, natch.

Anyway, on Monday before the storms the air was so thick and it was so hot that I was thinking about ice cubes already, so here are some frosty things to keep you thinking Christmas.

Yes, it’s more than two – I’m feeling bad about missing a day, though.  Got to keep on Santa’s Nice list – besides, snowmen are my favorites!

Just yesterday while strolling walking briskly and purposefully through the store, I noticed these cute little snowmen earrings.  They look like they were carved from a tiny bit of wood, but I am sure they are resin.  I love the folk art style of these little guys – and they will show up against my dark hair, which is important – why adorn oneself if said adornment will not be visible to be appreciated by all, ya’ll know what I’m sayin’?

How about this gorgeous sprig of light teal hydrangeas – does this say summer or what?  A full-on arrangement or even just a single sprig tucked into a vase will surely brighten your space.

Here is a funny little ornament – Santa peaking out of his tent – not worried about the bear that is keeping him company!  I guess that old black bear is on the Nice list this year.

I think we have about 28.14 miles of ribbon around here, give or take a yard, not counting all that has already been incorporated into our amazing trees and arrangements - how about some red, white and blue styles for the 4th of July?

Counting an ornament as one and ribbon as two, here are pics of more gorgeous ribbons:

We have every shade under the sun, from sunset purples to sunrise golds and every color of the rainbow in between!

I really did a triple take…walking through the warehouse…of a CHRISTMAS store…spot a box of shotgun shells???  Ooooookaaaaayyyyy.  Turns out, they are lights for the tree!  Bit of a relief…but just a bit.  Shotgun shells on the old tree?  Things that make you go hummmm.

May I stick with the hmmmmmm theme a little longer?  I’m just throwing out a guess, but … Carmen Mooranda?  or is it Cowmen Miranda? — well, good guesses, but: it’s Moolin Rouge!

Turns out there are about a dozen of these bovine beauties from Cows on Parade in the store.  They’re just moooo-licious!

We’ve got a huge selection of groovy stuff for that marvel of childhood, Thomas the Train, here in our Toy Store.  In addition to gear like this hat, we also have lamps and trains and tons of tracks, games and books, pails and snack containers and whistles, and I could keep going but you’ll want to look for yourself!

On a nearby tree I spotted this glittering reindeer ornament standing out from amoung the branches.  (Go for Glitter!)  Isn’t he elegant?

Two for Tuesday

I found several lovely Santas in the store today.

An elegant Santa in white fur coat and brilliant red scarf carrying a crowd of snowmen, off to decorate the neighborhood, no doubt!

And the Purr-fect Santa Nap, surrounded by feline companions, keeping him company after a long winter’s night.

Both of these are from the Pipka Santas collection of resin figurines.  The full selection encompasses Santa styles and traditions from around the world.
